Indian students struggling to find a job in the UK?

A number of issues could make it challenging for Indian students to obtain employment in the UK. The job market’s disregard for their prior Indian qualifications is one of the main problems.

Local companies frequently favor local credentials and experience, which disadvantages students with international education. The Covid-19 pandemic has also had a big effect on fresh graduating students’ employment opportunities because many companies have cut back on hiring owing to financial difficulties, while others have boosted their preference for local candidates because of travel limitations and health concerns.

The global economic downturn presents another difficulty since it has drastically decreased entry-level job prospects for international students, particularly those with degrees in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Additionally, it is challenging for Indian students to find employment due to high inflation, rising living expenses, and local unemployment, not only in the UK but throughout.

To overcome these challenges, we recommend that students take a proactive approach to building their careers while studying abroad. We are listing a few tip that have helped many of our students get a job within the UK.

  • Gaining a thorough awareness of the UK work market requires looking into subjects that fit your skills and keeping up with trends in employment.
  • Make a polished LinkedIn profile that highlights your training, expertise, and professional background. To learn about job openings, remain in touch with professionals in your sector by connecting with them and joining industry-related groups.
  • Create a CV and cover letter specifically for each job application, emphasizing your accomplishments in school, relevant work experience, and special talents.
  • Meet professionals in your sector by going to career fairs, networking events, and industry gatherings. Join ethnic or Indian student associations to broaden your network and get assistance.
  • Utilize the career resources that institutions provide, such as job fairs, workshops, and counseling sessions. These resources might offer helpful guidance and support throughout your job hunt.
  • To stand out in the job market, concentrate on developing soft skills like teamwork, communication, flexibility, and technical aptitude through extracurricular activities or part-time employment.
  • Consider volunteering or internships in your field to demonstrate commitment, gain practical experience, and enhance your resume
  • Acknowledge and respect cultural differences at work in order to foster goodwill among coworkers and successfully negotiate office dynamics.
  • Finally, finding a job can be difficult, so be strong when you encounter rejection. Remain positive throughout the process, take constructive criticism to heart, and learn from every encounter

Indian students can improve their employment chances in the UK by successfully putting these methods into practice and making the most of their networks, abilities, and adaptability in a highly competitive job market.
